On August 23rd, we hosted another Shopify Meetup in Hoboken for Refersion customers and other Shopify merchants. With nearly a hundred people who came, we had a blast!
\n\n\n\nWe started the night with free drinks and food (hey, you gotta lure them in), which led to great networking and discussions among the merchants. Running your own business is hard work, and it’s always great to blow off some steam while chatting with others who are going through the same thing you are.
\n\n\n\nAlex, Refersion’s CEO, opened the night by welcoming all the merchants and guests. He was also available to answer questions about Shopify integrations and best practices.
\n\n\n\r\nThen we started the meat of our night, hearing from leaders of three businesses: Mighty Mug, Stojo, and Cap Beauty. These companies have worked with Shopify for a while and gave us great insights on how to build an e-commerce business on the platform.
\n\n\n\nKatie from Cap Beauty talked about how to acquire new customers and how to test new marketing channels, including influencer marketing.

Jayme from Mighty Mug had a few things to say about learning from failure (don’t be afraid to fail quickly!) and his experience with manufacturing. And Jurrien from Stojo gave an account of recovering from failure as well, along with insights into using Shopify in an intelligent way.
